Overview

This program begins in Viseu, a city in Beira Alta, with a guided tour and a typically Portuguese dinner. On the second day, we will visit Coimbra, a UNESCO Heritage site, where we will enjoy a guided tour of the University of Coimbra and the Seminário Maior de Coimbra. We conclude this day with a unique experience, Fado de Coimbra, and dinner at a typical restaurant.

On the third day, there will be free time in the towns of Nazaré, Fátima, and Leiria. On the fourth day, we will visit the Batalha Monastery and have a guided tour of the Convent of Christ in Tomar. To conclude this day, we may experience a medieval dinner.

On the fifth day, we visit the olive oil production at Castelo de Marvão, one of the oldest olive oil producers in Alentejo, and finish with dinner at a typical Alentejo restaurant. On the sixth and last day, a guided tour of Castelo de Vide will be conducted.

Day 1 Welcome to Porto
Day 2 Discover the Hidden Villages of Gerês

Porto, the country’s second biggest city and unofficial capital of the north is a vibrant, cosmopolitan hub of culture, art and social life. Get lost in the narrow alleyways, taste the local cuisine and embark on a sightseeing journey through the city’s beautiful landscapes, monuments and iconic places.

Day 3 Venture Into the Secrets of Marão

Marão is another mountain range located in the north of Portugal that sets the border between the regions of Minho and Trás-os-Montes. Because of this, it is the best place to enjoy the best of both regions, from the landscapes, to the culture, all the way to the food.

Day 4 Visit the Highest Point of Continental Portugal at Estrela

Along the journey, one gets to the Estrela mountain range where cities like Covilhã, Seia or Guarda will make you fall in love with the small urbanities of the country. Due to their distance from the bigger metropolises, these cities have very unique customs and traditions.

Day 5 Get Lost in Leiria’s Pine Forest

Leiria’s Pine Forest is one of the oldest man-planted forests in both Portugal and Europe. With over 11.000 hectares, it is home to an incredibly biodiversity and has amazing landscapes to see. With a rich past behind it, you will also get to know a bit more about Portuguese history.

Day 6 From the Woods of Buçaco to the Caramulo Range

At the National Woods of Bussaco, you will get to visit the Palace of Bussaco and its gardens which are to prime examples of ancient Portuguese luxury buildings. At Caramulo one can enjoy inspiring treks through mountain grounds and beautiful landscapes.
